- Twingate Component: Client
- Platform: Windows
Several users have reported slow performance when using Active Directory Users and Computers (ADUC) over Twingate. We are currently investigating the root cause of this slow performance and how it relates with the Twingate client. This article provides guidance on the current best practice to work around this issue.
Resolution
- For many of our users, simply bypassing DNS by connecting to ADUC via IP with the following command resolves the slowness for them.
dsa.msc /server="domain controller IP"
Each customer environment is unique, and if the above recommendation does not resolve the slowness, we recommend using a jumpbox or administrative host that resides on the same network as the domain you’re managing, as this ensures all AD-related tasks are performed locally and efficiently. This approach also aligns with security best practices, as outlined in Microsoft’s guidance on secure administrative hosts.
