In this article:
Applicable to:
- Twingate Component: (as of writing) 1.0.22 and 1.0.23
- Platform: Windows
Overview
The Twingate Client running 1.0.21 does not show the prompt offering to auto update for versions 1.0.22 and 1.0.23.
Symptoms
- no update prompt in the Twingate Client
- Twingate.log shows
"update_action":"none"
in the below log entry when the update check is run:[INFO] [client] CheckForUpdates. Response = {"status":200,"data":{"downloadable_url":null,"update_action":"none","auto_update":true}} [VersionChecker.CheckForUpdates]
Cause
In general, Twingate recommends running the latest version of our software at all times. As such, it is a default setting for the Client to prompt to update when new versions are available.
In the above noted versions, it was discovered there were inconsistencies in the logging of the product. To prevent mass adoption of these versions that could lead to insufficient logging for troubleshooting, these versions were not add for the Client automatic update prompts. We are working on getting those fixed as a matter of priority so we can enable auto-update prompts for newer versions.
It is important to note that the issues mentioned above are minor and do not impact connectivity or normal Twingate functionality in any way.
Resolution
Until a later release is marked to prompt the Client for update, please download and install the Client from our website.
