Overview
On some Windows 10 and Windows 11 devices the Twingate Windows Client version 1.0.14 fails to to read previously saved data from the secure storage. As a result, the Twingate Client application’s dependency of the Twingate Service is not able to start as expected.
Symptoms
The same symptoms defined in Windows Client: System Service Is Not Running are seen in addition to the below:

The Twingate Service fails to start with the error:

error 1053: The service did not respond to start or control request in a timely fashion

- The below errors are seen via Windows Event Viewer > Application

Troubleshooting
- Follow the steps found in Windows Client: System Service Is Not Running to ensure the service does in fact not start.
- Confirm the Windows Client version is 1.0.14.
- Click on the Twingate icon in the system tray, and select More > Troubleshoot. The top item returned will be the Twingate Client version.
- Click on the Twingate icon in the system tray, and select More > Troubleshoot. The top item returned will be the Twingate Client version.
- Verify the system errors exist as noted in the above symptoms.
Resolution
To resolve this issue, upgrade to the latest Twingate Windows Client version.
